To the topic of Charlie Hebdo:
There is something seriously wrong with this #JeSuisCharlie movement! I mean to mourn the victims of the terrorist attack is one thing, but I feel like the Hashtag that's going around the world sends a different message.
First of: I'm very sorry for the people who have lost family members through this terroristic act. My honest and deepest condolences for your loss(es).
But I do not believe this act of violence was done to go against the right of free press or speech. In my opinion the caricatures were just a pretext. This was a terroristic act to spread hate. To make us angry against Islamic persons, so that these terrorist groups can recruit more members for their fanatic causes. And I feel like they succeeded. The killing provoked a new outrage all around Europe. No one is thinking straight anymore: Everyone starts to suddenly fear Islam and Muslims, the public jumps to conclusions and everyone seeks answers but takes the fastest response as true without thinking about it.
But the facts are: The people who killed more than 12 persons were terrorists and religious fanatics. They have NOTHING to do with the normal Muslim belief. The Koran does not teach to kill and just like every religion the Koran promotes and is supposed to spread love and peace.
If the situation was differently, no one would be so outraged and creating hashtags. FOR EXAMPLE: If there was a Christian fanatic going around killing press members, people would say: "Well, he was lunatic, that's not Christian at all!". So why do we connect these killings with the Islam?
And it has little to do with the right of free press. No one tried to censor the caricatures, no one tried to forbid the publication of these images. There were people going around killing others. This is not against the freedom of press, this is simply a sociopath acting in his own fanatic logic.
Please do not generalize so easily. Try to think out of the Box, try to form your own opinion on what is happening in the world. And do not choose the path of hate and fear.
Stop pointing out differences and fearing the unknown. Everyone wants to live in peace. Christians, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, etc. Stop terrorism by uniting the peaceful and spreading love.
"A wise king once told me, ‘we are one’. I didn’t understand him then. now I do."
"We are one."
